Buoy Hand-Knit Bobble Texture Round Neck w/Curved Hem

Crafted from a blend of 70% Baby Alpaca, 23% PA, and 7% Wool, the Buoy M5 is a hand-knit signature style that’s both beautifully chunky and surprisingly lightweight. Designed over a decade ago, it remains one of Sphere One’s most beloved pieces. Lucy set out to create a modern knit defined by abundant bobbles—rich, sculptural texture achieved only through the patience and skill of a master hand-knitter.

The bobble stitch used here is exceptionally technical and can only be made with one pair of hands and two needles, a level of craftsmanship impossible for machines to replicate. Traditionally reserved as a small flourish within cable patterns, the stitch becomes a dramatic allover texture in this design.

To bring the concept to life, Lucy sourced an ultra-light Peruvian Baby Alpaca yarn that’s air-jet injected into a gauze tube rather than twisted—resulting in impressive volume with a weight of under 500 grams. Soft, warm, and sculptural, the Buoy M5 is a true expression of artisanal knitwear.

Named after a maritime weather station off the southeast coast of Ireland, the Buoy M5 is part of a special collection honoring traditional seafaring landmarks, alongside the Mizen sweater for AW25.
